We might both do it. These things sometimes seem to go by monster type, after all - like when all the Mers were drowning people. Anyway, they have no reason to trust us.

Attempting to curry favor is one way to try and protect oneself from monsters. If only specific ones.

I sometimes wonder if they see us the way we see Pokemon sometimes. Sans noble hearts and stuff.

Do not say that! Pokemon are absolutely nothing like us!

I am Emmet, hear me out. Back in Hisui, non-clan folks. Until recently, did they see Pokemon as friend or horrible beasts?

[Then without waiting.]

Example: a Hisuian Zoroark comes up to a town, will they give it a warm blanket and kibble? They will probably do what they can to throw it back to the woods.

[Emmet had to specify Hisuian, because Unovan are different personality wise.]

Now think of the modern era, yup. A Hisuian Zoroark comes into town, what do you think they will do? About five people will come up with potions and berries. Probably try and get a Pokemon with Sing to get it asleep, to take it to a Pokemon Center then release it once it checks out.

The Zoroark was wild each time, you don't go into tall grass without a Pokemon, because it will attack, people will pull people out from taking a step into tall grass in case of that.

Everyday life for me in Unova, remember how I forgot that for a bit?

Monsters have been a part of Ryslig forever. While it is new to us, nowhere in Lars' genetic memory is a time without monsters. Something horrifying and disgusting loses those traits when it has been a part of everyday life since before his Grandpa was born.

I don't think it does, when it's spent your entire life murdering those around you and destroying your world on a regular basis. If Unovans were regularly eaten by Hisuian Zoroark, I doubt they would be so friendly to a stray one they happened to see. People do not just stop caring about their own safety - or each other - because monsters have always been around.

At least, they shouldn't.

I think the ones who like monsters are simply doing their best to save themselves. And rather forsaking their own kind in so doing. It's as if I went and became best friends with those poachers, and ignored what they did to you entirely.

They shouldn't, but they do, they have grown numb. All probably have a victim-blaming attitude or something.

That isn't good. We shouldn't encourage it. Besides, making friends with humans will only put them in greater danger, both from us and from other monsters - they should not start thinking that we are safe.

I don't think they are actively deciding that or pondering it. I think they are aware of what we are and decided they don't care and the only way we could change their mind is by actively hurting them, yup. Like those underqualified trainers who borrow a friend's level 50 Nidoking and forget that pokemon can turn at any moment.

I guess they don't understand rental Pokemon have special training.

I would let new trainers command Pokemon I had trained for mock battles sometimes. The ones from the Paths of Solitude, not my own team! But only the ones who had a good temperament for it, and only while I was present.

Lots of people don't think like that, nope. It will be like 'You're going against Elesa? Here uses my level 100 Hippowdon!'

Simplistic thinking. She must have a counter for ground-types. What sort of an electric specialist does not think about that?

Her Emolgas, but also if it has a normal move it would still work.

Which one? Going at each other with normal-type moves is inefficient - better to learn Grass Knot, if Emolga can. A great many Pokemon can! And the challenger should have rock moves, but likely they would be relying on pure strength and ground-type advantage, if bringing a powerful borrowed Pokemon was their strategy to begin with.
